European Winners Award for Irish Workplace Education Training Programme – Skills for Work!
The Skills for Work Programme has won the European Social partners to receive the European Vocational Skills Week – Training at Work Winning Award. The award will be presented to Skills for Work by the European Commissioner for Employment, Social Affairs, Skills and Labour Mobility Ms Marianne Thyssen in Brussels on Friday 24th November.
The Training at Work Award acknowledges organisations that promote career-long professional learning in micro, small and medium companies and which inspire new ideas and policies to support the upskilling need of adults in employment.

Skills for Work is a national Programme which provides educational training opportunities across Ireland to help employees deal with the basic skills demands of the workplace. Over 3,000 employees from various employment sector (Industry, Hospitality, Food & Beverage, Retail, Farming Community and Transport) supported by their employers participate in the Skills for Work Programme each year.

Employers have reported that since engaging with the Skills for Work Programme, there has been many benefits to the company such as belter productivity, retention of staff, better team performances and an increase in staff putting themselves forward for additional training and promotional opportunities.

Skills for Work is funded by the Irish Government under the Department of Education and Skills and SOLAS. The courses are delivered by the Education & Training Boards (ETB) across the country. The project is managed nationally by Dublin & Dún Laoghaire ETB.
