Representative from GEODIES Ireland Ltd and Irish Rail share their experience of the Skills for Work Programme

Representatives from GEODIS Ireland Ltd, Irish Rail, DDLETB and Donegal ETB at Skills for Work & AONTAS event

At the recent Skills for Work closing event of the Learning Today for a Better Tomorrow Mr Paddy Lavelle (CE) DDLETB noted the great work of the programme and its contribution to upskilling workers in various companies over the years. “Nearly 3000 workers participate on SFW courses each year, which has contributed greatly to supporting both the employers and employee in many ways especially by providing this opportunity to upskill their workforce”.

Speaking on behalf of Irish Rail, Ms Sinead O’Reilly, in her presentation mentioned that over 200 workers attended Skills for Work courses and many of the staff have “gotten promotions and better positions within the company. Others have gone on to third level and this is all down to the fact that they took up a Skills for Work course”.

GEODIS Irelands Ltd was represented by Ms. Allie Kaza and Mr. Willie Kellet. Ms Kaza., highlight how the company and its staff have benefited from engaging with Skills for Work and this has “raised the profile of the company as being very progressive with a great interest in upskilling their staff”.
