Over the past year, Geodis Ireland has worked very closely with Skills for Work in Blanchardstown. Staff from the company recently completed a Personal and Interpersonal skills course which assisted them with improving specific skills needed for the workplace. The course was held every Tuesday and Thursday for 1.5 hours. Understanding the benefits this course would have for staff members and the company itself, Geodis kindly released their staff to attend the course.

According to Aliie Kazak HR officer, “this course was beneficial to employees as they learned to understand emotions and the way they impact on interpersonal relationships. The employees also learned how to improve decision-making skills, listening skills, and conflict resolution skills. The tutor was very patient and made every effort to tailor the course to suit everyone involved”.

In addition to this group, another group of staff members from Geodis Ireland are currently engaged in a computer course which is going very well and the employees are finding it hugely beneficial for their working life. They are currently concentrating on spreadsheets and this has helped immensely as they would have to deal with lists of stock in the warehouse on a daily basis. Having the knowledge of Excel makes their working day a lot easier and more productive.

When asked if the company would recommend SFW to other companies, Aliie commented that she would most definitely! “The support from Nuala Nedjati, the SFW coordinator was excellent; her communication skills on the phone, by email and in person were great. When I found myself in a difficult situation, Nuala came up with different Ideas and solutions to make our experience with Skills for work better and better”.

Skills for work would like to thank Geodis Ireland for their continued support and wish all participants the very best of luck with their continued learning.
