The Big Business Breakfast event held on the 24th November at the Glasshouse Hotel in Sligo

The recent Big Business Breakfast event held at the Glasshouse Hotel in Sligo on the 24th November provided local businesses in the Sligo region the opportunity to speak with the statutory bodies and learn what supports are available to business’s. There was a fantastic turnout, which included keynote speaker Brody Sweeney. He spoke about his new business venture Camille Thai, and urged the attendees to avail of the supports available to business owners in the region.

The Skills For Work programme have delivered a large number of courses in the region with feedback from both employers and participants on the courses being very positive.

A Day in the Life!

at-the-mart

Promoting Skills for Work courses to companies and their employees takes SFW regional Co-ordinators down many roads and byway, and this morning the Mart in Waterford was just another day in the life of a SFW Co-ordinator.

Donning the winter woollies and wellies was the required attire for attending the Farmers Mart on this cold winter morning. Using every means possible to capture the attention of the farmers while they negotiated the price of livestock, an opportunity arose to speak from “centre stage”.

Having a Cork accent meant I could speak at the speed of the auctioneer which was a great bonus and in no time at all I had caught their interest. On completing my sales pitch the response from the farmers was great, so much so that SFW set up two Farmers On Line Herd Registration Courses with WWETB.

Our work is not all about glamour but getting adults engaging in education!
